Gerardo is fresh off a 2nd place finish at the Orlando Europa and is transitioning into a slight bulk.
His food choices will help him maintain a calorie surplus and serve as a reward after a stressful competition prep.
Grocery Shopping with Gerardo Gabriel
Regardless if he’s bulking or cutting, Gerardo always has some form of egg for breakfast as a protein source. Right now, he is sticking to a liquid egg substitute that has a similar consistency to liquid eggs.
Gerardo likes to include fruit as part of his diet. So, he snags some strawberries and tangerines while in the produce section. For another one of his carb sources, Gerardo is a huge fan of sticky rice. Usually it’s used to make sushi, but he likes to use it as a side to his meals.
Gerardo also enjoys indulging in some cereal. His healthier choice for everyday use is Kashi Go Lean. But he also picks up a box of Fruity Pebbles as a treat for when he’s relaxing around the house. Another treat he snags is a box of cookies and cream Pop Tarts.
For a healthier snack option, Gerardo grabs a pint of Halo Top. Gerardo likes Halo Top because you can eat the whole pint and it’s only 300ish calories. But he can only buy 1, because if he purchases multiples he’ll go through all of the pints at once.
Another staple in Gerardo’s diet is rice cakes. He mostly uses them as a way to fight cravings. And they’re a much better option than the Chips Ahoy he purchases a little further down in the aisle.
For one of his protein sources, Gerardo buys frozen cod. He finds cod to be the easiest fish for him to eat, because it has a less fishy texture than other fish sources. The other protein source Gerardo purchases from the grocery store is boneless chicken breast.
To Gerardo, diet is all about having fun and enjoying what you eat. Especially after accomplishing a goal you’ve set.
